What is Singing Harmonies?
Singing Harmonies is a group where we explore our voices together. It is about enjoying music, trying out new things with your voice and connecting to people. As a group, we are creating a space of acceptance. Any ‘mistakes’ are welcome and making strange noises is just as valid as finding a beautiful sound. We practice a lot of improvisation, listening to each other and creating sound patterns together. This will help you to step away from your critical thinking and connect to the artist inside you.
What you will learn:
- Singing in front of people
- How to let go of critical voices inside your head
- How to improvise a melody
- Picking up songs by ear
- How to tune into different harmonies
- How chaos inspires creativity
- Enjoying imperfection
- How to care for your voice and listen to your body
- How to express yourself authentically
- How to connect your voice with your emotions
- That we all bring our own insecurities and that sharing them will help each other grow
Singing Harmonies Explained - The Theory Behind
In Singing Harmonies, I take a holistic approach that goes beyond vocal technique. While a strong technical foundation is essential to a certain extend, I’ve discovered that true expression happens when we move from structured learning into spontaneous creativity. By engaging the right hemisphere of the brain—responsible for creativity, emotion, and social connection—we can access a deeper, more authentic vocal experience. This practice will allow you to let go of perfection and connect with your feelings, creating a space where body and mind can work together harmoniously. In Singing Harmonies, I will encourage you each session to tap into this unique flow, creating music that resonates from within.

More Questions
What does a typical class look like?
- We usually start with an exercise to connect to ourselves and to the group emotionally.
- Then we do a little warm-up to get the voice going and some blood flowing.
- After the warm-up we will explore different exercises that involve tuning into each others sounds, finding voice patterns, call and response, improvising melodies, and playing games such as a “group battle”.
- Sometimes we sing a simple song and improvise our own harmonies to it.
- To wind down the class always finishes with a little relaxing moment and a sharing round.
How big is the group and what's the age range of participants?
The maximum number of participants is 15. The minimum age is 16 and there is no upper limit.
Is reading sheet music required, or do you teach by ear?
No, you don’t need to be able to read sheet music. When we are learning new songs I usually teach by ear. I do this because I want you to move away from your analytical thinking so you can fully explore your creativity.
What should I bring to class?
Water to stay hydrated, comfortable clothing and a notebook in case you want to write something down after the class.
